Monaco Athletics Federation Achieves ISO 20121:2024 Certification

The Monaco Athletics Federation (FMA) has reached a new milestone in its commitment to sustainability by obtaining the international ISO 20121:2024 certification, awarded by Bureau Veritas, for the responsible management of its two flagship events: the Herculis Meeting and the Monaco Run.

This certification recognises nearly three years of dedicated work, initiated in the winter of 2023 by the Federation’s teams, in collaboration with several Monaco-based stakeholders, the Mission for Energy Transition (Mission pour la Transition Énergétique), and with the support of ARIMA consultancy.

International Recognition for Sustainable Event Management

The ISO 20121:2024 standard is an internationally recognised benchmark for sustainable event management. It aims to integrate sustainability principles into every stage of event planning and organisation, addressing environmental, social and economic considerations.

The standard focuses on responsible resource management, reducing environmental impacts, engaging stakeholders and establishing a framework for continuous improvement.

The certification awarded by Bureau Veritas confirms that the FMA’s management system meets the requirements of this international standard within the scope of the Herculis Meeting and the Monaco Run.

A Long-Term Commitment to Sustainability

Beyond recognising the progress achieved so far, this certification marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Monaco Athletics Federation.

In line with the sustainability objectives promoted by European Athletics and World Athletics, as well as the Principality of Monaco’s environmental ambitions, the FMA is committed to continuing its efforts to reduce the impact of its events and further strengthen its responsible practices.

Through this initiative, the FMA reaffirms its ambition to combine sporting excellence, international recognition and environmental and social responsibility, contributing to a more sustainable future for its events.
