Ukrainian Bojan BONDARENKO, World champion last year in Moscow, will face up his main rivals. Among them, Russian Ivan UKHOV – Olympic champion in 2012 in London and Qatari Mutaz BARSHIM – world indoor champion in Sopot this winter. The Canadian Derek DROUIN, twice bronze medalist in Moscou and London, and the American Erik KYNARD, London Olympic Games silver medalist, will be also among the challengers.
Some figures?
Meeting record: 2m37 by Russian Andrey SILNOV in 2006.
European record: 2m42 by Swedish Patrik SJOBERG in 1987.
World record: 2m45 by Cuban Javier SOTOMAYOR in 1993.
When we compare these performances to BONDARENKO and UKHOV’ personal records with 2m41, BARSHIM and DROUIN with 2m40 and KYNARD with 2m37,all established during these past 12 months, we can easily imagine that one or more of these performances will not last… But to know which one, we invite you to come and find out by yourself on Friday July 18th at Louis II Stadium in Monaco!
