The season has started!

The season opening Doha Diamond League took place on Friday 3rd. The competition, held at the Khalifa Stadium did not disappoint, and the athletes achieved great performances. The first big achievement was when Daniel STAHL broke the Diamond League record with a 70.56m throw and became the first man to produce six discuss throws beyond 69.50m in a single competition.

Let’s now have a look at the events we will host in Monaco!
Caster SEMENYA broke a meet record in the 800m, with a time of 1:54.98. Yaroslava MAHUCHIKH set a new PB of 1.96m in the high jump, becoming the youngest woman to win a Diamond League event. Dalilah MUHAMMAD clocked the 400m hurdles in 53.61, and established a new meet record as well as a World Lead. 
In the men 800m race, Nijel AMOS, who won last year in Monaco, crossed the finish line in first position in 1:44.29 and Emmanuel KORIR took silver in 1:44.50. Also winner in Monaco, Soufiane EL BAKKALI won the 3000m steeplechase in 8:07.22 and set a new World Lead. In the men’s 1500m, Elijah MANANGOI, winner in Monaco in 2017, established a World Lead and finished in 3:32.21, followed by Timothy CHERUIYOT (3:32.47), who won in Monaco last year, and Bethwell BIRGEN (3:33.12). 
In pole vault, Sam KENDRICKS jumped 5.80m high and took the win, followed by Thiago BRAZ (5.71m) and Seito YAMAMOTO (5.61m). In the 200m, Dina ASHER-SMITH won with a fast time of 22.26, in front of Jamile SAMUEL who finished in 22.90. Finally, the Jamaican athlete Danielle WILLIAMS ran her season best on the 100m hurdles, with a time of 12.66.
