The elite of the world in the1500m Men will be in Monaco: On this distance, we can count on three middle-distance talents who are coming to run fast. First, the Olympic Champion Matthew CENTROWITZ, who will come back in Monaco for the 7th time. Beside him, the World Champion Elijah Montonei MANANGOI comes back where he has won in 2017, and the world indoor record holder, Samuel TEFERA will be running in Louis II Stadium for the 1st time.
The women Mile in honor of Gabrielle GRUNEWALD: Today, Tuesday 25th of June, Gabrielle GRUNEWALD, who passed away from cancer recently, would have turned 33. The American athlete had a great impact on the athletics’ world, and she set her 1500m PB in Monaco in 2013. The women Mile of this year will be named the Brave Like Gabe Mile, to pay tribute to her courage. Because the Meeting wants to host a legendary race, three athletes who set world record in the Principality will come: Genzebe DIBABA on the 1500m in 2015, Beatrice CHEPKOECH on the 3000m steeplechase in 2018 and Sifan HASSAN on the 5km road in 2019.
For the men triple jump, Christian TAYLOR will celebrate his 5th venue in Monaco: The men triple jump event promises to be great! The Olympic and World Champion, Christian TAYLOR, is used to perform in Monaco. Indeed, he already came four times in the Stade Louis II and he owns the Meeting record with a jump of 17.75m. Also in competition will be Will CLAYE, the World Indoor Champion and Pedro Pablo PICHARDO, who has a PB of 18.08m.
