Men Events
100m Men:
For the most awaited 100m of the year, we’ll have the sprint elite. World Champion Justin GAITLIN, wo just ran 9.87 and is the Meeting record holder in 9.78 since 2015 and the American rising star Noah LYLES, who has a PB of 9.86 will be in the starting blocks. They will face the Italian record holder Filippo TORTU and the NCAA Champion Divine ODUDURU.
400m Men:
For the men one lap, European Champion Matthew HUDSON-SMITH and Abderrahman SAMBA, the second-best performers of all times in the 400m hurdles will go head to head with Davide RE, the new Italian record holder in 44.77.
800m Men:
Herculis EBS is used to host amazing 800m races. This year again, the world’s best 800 athletes will run a really fast race. The World Champion and French record holder, Pierre-Ambroise BOSSE will face the European Champion, Adam KSZCZOT; Nijel AMOS, who improved the Meeting record last year with a time of 1:42.14.
1500m Men:
Five middle distance runners will be on the starting line of the 1500m race. First, Rio’s Olympic Champion, Matthew CENTROWITZ, who will come back in Monaco for the seventh time and the World Champion Elijah Montonei MANANGOI. On their side will be the World Indoor record holder, Samuel TEFERA; the European Champion Jakob INGEBRIGTSEN (who is only 18) and his brother, Filip, who owns Norway’s National record.
3000m Steeplechase Men:
Last year, Soufiane EL BAKKALI set his new PB of 7.58.15, winning the 3000m SC in Monaco. This year, he’’ll be back on the track and will confront the World Leader, Getnet WALE, who ran 8:06.01 this season. Takele NIGATE, World Junior Champion in 2018 will also compete.
Pole Vault Men:
In Monaco, the conditions are always great for the Pole Vaulters. This year, the World Champion Sam KENDRICKS will oppose the World Record holder Renaud LAVILLENIE and the European Champion and rising star Mondo DUPLANTIS. His best performance of the year, with a jump of 6m00, is also the Meeting record.
Triple Jump Men :
For the Triple Jump event,three athletes already broke the 18m barrier. The Olympic Champion and World Champio, Christian TAYLOR is used to perform in Monaco. Herculis EBS’s meeting record holder with 17m75 and a PB of 18m21 will compete for the fifth time in Monaco. The World Indoor Champion Will CLAYE who just jumped 18m14 and Pedro Pablo PICHARDO who has a PB of 18m08 will also be present, along with the European Champion, Nelson EVORA (17m74 PB).
Javelin Throw Men:
En 2018, Kevin Mayer s’était mesuré aux spécialistes du lancer du poids et du 110m haies. Cette année, il se confrontera aux maîtres du javelot, Magnus KIRT, Thomas RÖHLER et Johannes VETTER. Le Champion du Monde, et recordman du Monde du décathlon se retrouvera aux côtés de Thomas RÖHLER, Champion Olympique et Champion d’Europe. Le Champion du Monde, Johannes VETTER, et le leader mondial avec un lancer de 90m61 Magnus KIRT seront également dans l’aire de lancer. L’occasion pour la superstar française de profiter de l’effervescence des grands rendez-vous et de la ferveur du stade Louis II pour repousser ses limites.
in 2018, Kevin MAYER faced the specialists of the shotput and 110m hurdles events. This year, he will confront the javelin masters, Magnus KIRT, Thomas RÖHLER and Johannes VETTER. The World Champion and World record holder of the decathlon will compete against Thomas RÖHLER, Olympic Champion, European Champion and winner in Monaco in 2017. Joining these two men will be Johannes VETTER, World Champion in title and the current World Leader Magnus KIRT. The French superstar will be in perfect conditions to set a new personal best (currently at 71.90m) and push back his limits.
Women events
200m Women:
For the 200m women, the 400m Olympic Champion, Shaunae MILLER UIBO, after setting a nex Diamond League record with a time of 48.97 last year, will come back this year to compete against the 200m Olympic Champion Elaine THOMPSON and against Dafne SCHIPPERS, World Champion and Olympic silver medalist. On their side will be Marie-Josée TA LOU, who won the 100m in the Louis II in 2018 and the 200m in 2017. This race will be explosive!
800m Women :
Laura MUIR, 1500m European Champion, will race the 800m. With a performance of 2:00.63 set in Montreuil this season, she will face the bronze Olympic medalist, Ajee WILSON who ran in 1:58.36 this year. The French Renelle LAMOTE will make her season opener in Monaco. Stay tuned for more…
Mile Women:
The Mile will be memorable. In honor of Gabrielle GRUNEWALD, it will be named « Brave Like Gabe Mile » and three athletes who set world records in Monaco will be there: Genzebe DIBABA (1500m) in 2015, Beatrice CHEPKOECH (3000m steeplechase) in 2018 and Sifan HASSAN (5km road) in 2019.
100m Hurdles Women:
On the starting line of the 100m hurdles will be the World Champion and Autralia’s record holder, Sally PEARSON who has a PB of 12.28; the world record holder with a time of 12.20, Kendra HARRISON and the Olympic Champion, Brianna McNEAL who has a 12.26 PB. The Meeting record of 12.42 set by Gail DEVERS could be in danger.
400m Hurdles Women:
The 400m hurdles will be explosive since the World Champion Kori CARTER, the young American superstar as well as the Junior World Champion Sydney McLAUGHLIN will be present, along with the European Champion Léa SPRUNGER.
High Jump Women:
Mariya LASISTKENE, World Champion and World Leader will come back in Monaco this year. Her Meeting record of 2m05, which was set in 2017 could be improved since she jumped 2m06 in Ostrava last June.
Triple Jump Women:
After last year’s success with the Shot Put event on the Port of Monaco, Herculis EBS will host, July 11, the women triple jump for the City Jump. Olympic Champion and athlete of the year 2018 Caterine IBARGUEN will be present. She also owns the Triple Jump Diamond League record since 2014 with a Jump of 15m31. Besides her will be the World Champion Yulimar ROJAS who just jump her PB of 15m06 in Huelva, and the European Champion Paraskevi PAPACHRISTOU.
