Men’s pole vault:
The pole vault World record holder Armand DUPLANTIS (SWE) (6m18 in 2020) jumped the highest tonight. Clearing 6.00m on his third attempt, he won the contest and set a new World Lead. 30 centimeters below were Ben BROEDERS (BEL) and Ernest John OBIENA (PHI).
Men’s 110m hurdles:
The World and Olympic medalist as well as the reigning Diamond League champion, Orlando ORTEGA (ESP) clocked a dashing 13.11 to take the win! He was closely followed by Andrew POZZI (GBR), 13.14, and Wilhem BELOCIAN (FRA), who set a new PB of 13.18.
Women’s High Jump:
Ukraine took the centre stage in the High Jump contest. The World U20 record holder, Yaroslava MAHUCHIKH (UKR) claimed the win on countback with a 1.98m jump. Also clearing 1.98m was Yuliya LEVCHENKO (UKR), who took second place. Ten centimeters below was Jeannelle SCHEPER (LCA).
Men’s 800m:
The reigning World Champion, Donavan BRAZIER (USA), secured the win and ran a 1:43.15 World Lead. Behind him, Bryce HOPPEL (USA), Marco AROP (CAN), Benjamin ROBERT (FRA) and (Kyle LANGFORD) all set new PBs.
Women’s Triple Jump:
Yulimar ROJAS (VEN) took a winning jump of 14.27m. Second and third were Gabriela PETROVA (BUL) and Patricia MAMONA (POR), who respectively jumped 14.18m and 14.08m.
Women’s 5000m:
World Champion Hellen OBIRI (KEN) was fast tonight! She set a new Meeting Record of 14:22.12. Finishing fourth in 14:43.80, Jessica HULL (AUS) broke the Australian record.
‘JobZone 400m Hurdles’ :
For his first Diamond League in Monaco, the two times World champion and European record holder in the 400m Hurdles, Karsten WARHOLM (NOR) took the win and set a new Meeting Record of 47.10. Behind him were Yasmani COPELLO (TUR) and Rasmus MÄGI (EST) who finished their races in 49.04 and 49.23.
Women’s 100m:
For her first Diamond League Meeting, the European Leader, Ajla DEL PONTE (SUI) took the 100m win in 11.16. Behind her were the American sprinter, Aleia HOBBS (11.28) and the German Gina LÜCKENKEMPER (11.31).
Men’s 1500m:
The Men’s 1500m was a fantastic show in the Stade Louis II tonight! Timothy CHERUIYOT (KEN) ran his way to victory, finishing in first place in 3:28.45. In second place was Jakob INGEBRIGTSEN (NOR) in 3:28.68; who set a new European Record. Third, Jake WIGHTMAN (GBR) set a new PB of 3:29.47.
Women’s 400m:
Lynna IRBY (USA) claimed the win in the Women’s 400m in 50.50. In second place was Wadeline JONATHAS (USA), with 51.40. For her first Diamond League Meeting, Femke BOL (NED) finished 3rd in 51.57.
Men’s 5000m:
Joshua CHEPTEGEI (UGA) took on the 5000m in an astonishing time of 12:35.36, setting a new World Record for the second time in Monaco!! Second place went to Nicholas KIPKORIR (KEN) with a PB of 12:51.78 and Jacob KROP (KEN) secured a third place with 13:11.32.
Men’s 200m:
Noah LYLES (USA) clocked a dashing 19.76 to take the win! He was closely followed by his brother Josephus LYLES, (USA) who finished in 20.30. In 3rd position was Deniz ALMAS (GER), who set a new PB of 20.64.
Women’s 1000m:
The 1500m Olympic champion, Faith KIPYEGON (KEN) won 1000m in 2:29.15, synonym of a new Area Record, a World Lead and a Diamond League Record. The European Champion Laura MUIR (GBR) finished in 2:30.82 and set a new National Record for Great-Britain. Ciara MAGEEAN (IRL), 3rd in 2:31.06, Halimah NAKAAYI (UGA), 5th in 2:32.12, and Sofia ENNAOUI (POL), 6th in 2:32.30, all set new National Records too.
Men’s 3000m SC:
The Herculis Diamond League finished with a bang! The Stade Louis II proved to be a fast track, as demonstrated in the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase: Soufiane EL BAKKALI (MAR) finished in first place with a new World Lead of 8:08.04. In second place was Leonard Kipkemoi BETT (KEN) in 8:08.78; and in third place was Djilali BEDRANI (FRA) in 8:13.43.
