The fans of technical events will be very well served in Rabat at the Mohammed VI International Athletics Meeting. With Women’s Pole Vault taking place in the 2019 edition, the show is indeed guaranteed with this clash of titans that will bring together Katerina Stefanidi, Sandi Morris, Jennifer Suhr and Anzhelika Sidorova.

Stefanidi started very well in the Shanghai Diamond League, where she easily jumped  4.72m to take the first place in the Chinese stage.

Since the beginning of the season, the Greek athlete has shown that she will play a leading role this season, a progression that fortells an amazing performance in Africa, Morocco, before trying to maintain her gold medal in the World Championships.

Stefanidi, who is an Olympic and European champion, seems ready for this epic battle, which will be auspicious for the Doha World Championships.

In turn, the American Sandi Morris, who is the 2016 Olympic vice-champion, has cleared 4.76m upon her return to the competitions at the end of April after 8 months of absence.

Morris,  the 2017 outdoor vice-world champion and  2018 indoor world champion, had not competed since last August. In Rabat, Morris, who underwent left ankle surgery in September 2018, will be expected to prove that she is in good shape and ready for the next challenges.

The American who set a personal best of 5m, won the pole vault of the prestigious Drake Relays four times consecutively for jumping 4.76m, before finishing 4th in Shanghai.

Her compatriot, Suhr, who was also an Olympic champion in London in 2012, will also be part of the competition. The meeting will witness the comeback of the holder of the Women’s Pole vault indoors world record for making a 5.03 m jump in 2016 and who is leading the actual world list with a remarkable 4.91m.

To complete the world top 4, fully reunited in the capital of Morocco, the neutral athlete Anzhelika Sidorova, who is the reigning indoors world champion, will be keen to confirm an outstanding indoor season in 2018 and 2019. The only one of the four athletes that has not yet started her summer season will undoubtedly be the fourth piece of a charming quartet that is likely to inflame the northern curve of Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complexe.
