19:00 – Triple jump W:<\/div>\n
On Thursday 11 July, the Meeting Herculis EBS will organise the women\u2019s triple jump competition in Monaco\u2019s Port Hercules. There we\u2019ll find Caterine IBARGUEN, Olympic champion and IAAF Diamond League record holder (15m31 in Monaco). Up against her will be the reigning world champion, Yulimar ROJAS, who holds the world seasonal best (15m06, personal best) and reigning European champion, Paraskevi PAPACHRISTOU (14m51 this season). Also worth watching will be Rouguy DIALLO from Nice, who will be trying to improve on her personal best (14m31).<\/div>\n

FRIDAY 12 JULY<\/div>\n

19:30 – Javelin throw M: <\/div>\n
In 2018, Kevin MAYER pitted his talent against the shot putting and 110m hurdles specialists. This year, he\u2019ll be up against the masters of the javelin. The world champion and world record holder in the decathlon will be competing alongside Thomas R\u00d6HLER, Olympic and European champion (86m99) and Magnus KIRT, this year\u2019s world leader (90m61). The perfect opportunity for the Frenchman to learn alongside the best and get close to his personal best throw (71m90)\u2026<\/div>\n
19:35 – Pole vault M:<\/div>\n
Monaco has all the ingredients for a top-flight competition. Piotr LISEK, who cleared 6m01 in Lausanne (WSB and PB) will do battle with the world\u2019s top pole vaulters. Up against him will be the world record holder, Renaud LAVILLENIE (5m81), Sam KENDRICKS (5m93 this year) and the European champion and rising star of the discipline, Armand DUPLANTIS (6m00 this season). The meeting record (6m00) might well be under threat!<\/div>\n
20:00 – High jump W:<\/div>\n
In the high jump, Mariya LASITSKENE, world champion and world leader with 2m06, will be looking to improve on her season\u2019s best and may even make an attempt at the world record (2m09). Her most notable arrival will be Mirela DEMIREVA, Olympic No.2 in Rio. <\/div>\n
20:03 – 400m Hurdles W:<\/div>\n
In the 400m hurdles, all eyes will be on Sydney McLAUGHLIN, who\u2019s racked up a time of 53\u2019\u201972 this season. She\u2019ll be competing against Kori CARTER, reigning world champion (55\u2019\u201905 in 2019), Ashley SPENCER, third at the Olympic Games in Rio (54\u2019\u201949) and L\u00e9a SPRUNGER, European champion (55\u2019\u201974).<\/div>\n
20:15 – 800m W:<\/div>\n
Laura MUIR, European 1,500m champion, will be coming to Monaco to work on her speed in the 800m (2\u201900\u2019\u201963 this year). Up against her will be the bronze medallist in the last world championships, Ajee WILSON (1\u201958\u2019\u201936 this season) and Raevyn ROGERS (1\u201958\u2019\u201965). Great incentive for her to go even quicker\u2026<\/div>\n
20:25 – 400m M: <\/div>\n
On the lap of the track, hurdler Abderrahman SAMBA will be attempting to beat his personal best set earlier this year (44\u2019\u201960). He\u2019ll be able to count on some sterling opposition from Steven GARDINER, reigning world number two (personal best of 43\u2019\u201987 in 2018) and Davide RE, Italian record holder in a time of 44\u2019\u201977.<\/div>\n
20:35 – 1500m M:<\/div>\n
At the start of the 1,500m will be the six best performers of 2019. Timothy CHERUIYOT will be the man to beat having posted the world seasonal best in 3\u201928\u2019\u201977 in Lausanne. Competing against him will be brothers Jakob and Filip INGEBRIGTSEN, who ran some solid times of 3\u201930\u2019\u201916 and 3\u201930\u2019\u201982 this season. Samuel TEFERA, world record holder in the indoor 1,500m (3\u2019\u201931\u2019\u201939 in 2019), Ayanleh SOULEIMAN (3\u201930\u2019\u201979) and Ronald MUSAGALA (3\u201931\u2019\u201933) will also be in it to win it. Keep an eye on the clock!<\/div>\n
20:40 – Triple jump M:<\/div>\n
The men\u2019s triple jump competition will boast a stellar line-up with three athletes who\u2019ve cleared 18m. For the fifth time, Christian TAYLOR, Olympic champion and world champion, will grace the Louis II stadium jump pit for which he holds the record (17m75 in 2015). He\u2019ll be seeking to improve on his best jump of the season (17m47). He\u2019ll be competing once again with the world indoor champion, Will CLAYE (18m14 this season) and Pedro Pablo PICHARDO, who secured a personal best in 18m08 (17m47 this year). Together with these three talents we have European champion, Nelson EVORA, who has a record of 17m74. The meeting record could be set to tumble…<\/div>\n
20:50 – 100m Hurdles W:<\/div>\n
At the start of the 100m hurdles will be world record holder Kendra HARRISON, who racked up a 12\u2019\u201947 time at the start of the season. She\u2019ll be up against Nia ALI, Olympic No.2 (12\u2019\u201975 this season) and Janeek BROWN, NCAA champion and holder of a world seasonal best (12\u2019\u201940). The meeting record of 12\u2019\u201942, set by Gail DEVERS in 2002, will be worth keeping an eye on.<\/div>\n
21:00 – 800m M:<\/div>\n
The 800m is set to be a highlight of the Meeting Herculis EBS. Nijel AMOS, meeting record holder (1\u201942\u2019\u201911 last year), will be attempting to beat his season\u2019s best (1\u201943\u2019\u201965). He\u2019ll be vying with Ferguson Cheruiyot ROTICH, clocked at 1\u201943\u2019\u201993 this year and Adam KSZCZOT, reigning European champion (1\u201944\u2019\u201974 in 2019). Pierre-Ambroise BOSSE is making the most of this choice opposition to make his comeback and he\u2019ll be gunning for a performance worthy of a ticket for the world championships in Doha (1\u201945\u2019\u201950). <\/div>\n
21:10 – 200m W:<\/div>\n
The women\u2019s 200m will be one of the events to watch this year. Having beaten the IAAF Diamond League record last year in the 400m (48”97), Shaunae MILLER-UIBO will this year be lining up for the half-lap of the track. She\u2019ll be up against Elaine THOMPSON, holder of the world seasonal best (22\u2019\u201900), Blessing OKAGBARE (22\u2019\u201905) and Dafne SCHIPPERS, reigning world champion (22\u2019\u201956 this season).<\/div>\n
21:20 – Brave Like Gabe Mile W: <\/div>\n
The women\u2019s Mile, renamed the \u201cBrave Like Gabe Mile\u201d in tribute to Gabriele GRUNEWALD, will be one of the evening\u2019s highlights. Coming together for this race will be three athletes who have set a world record in Monaco: Genzebe DIBABA (1,500m in 2015), Beatrice CHEPKOECH (3,000m steeplechase in 2018) and Sifan HASSAN (5km road race in 2019).<\/div>\n
21:35 – 100m M:<\/div>\n
In the starting blocks for the 100m will be Justin GATLIN, reigning world champion and Meeting Herculis EBS record holder (9\u2019\u201978 in 2015), who\u2019s posted a time of 9\u2019\u201987 this season. Up against him, Noah LYLES, who set a new personal best this year in 9\u2019\u201986 in Shanghai and NCAA champion Divine ODUDURU (also 9\u2019\u201986). This race should enable Jimmy VICAUT to better his time of 10\u2019\u201907 set in Prague.<\/div>\n
21:45 – 3000m Steeplechase M:<\/div>\n
Last year, Soufiane EL BAKKALI won the race in a time of 7\u201958\u2019\u201915, beating his personal best. This year he\u2019ll be competing against Getnet WALE, holder of the world seasonal best (8\u201906\u2019\u201901) and Takele NIGATE, junior world champion (8\u201914\u2019\u201934 this season). Also worth watching are Frenchmen Djilali BEDRANI (8\u201918\u2019\u201944 this year, personal best) and Yoann KOWAL, who\u2019ll be making his comeback.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
